Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Newton County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may receive routine technical details about that visit:
- Page-view times and the pages opened
- Device category and operating system
- The referring site, when one is reported
- The device’s assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Time spent on visited pages
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help measure which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into site-use reports. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Diagnosing technical faults and performance problems
- Maintaining availability and page speed
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Newton County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes directions to the Newton County Sheriff, the 40th Judicial Circuit, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search tools. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure rules govern information entered there. Those practices are outside our control, so review the selected provider’s policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Newton County Sheriff, Missouri courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Review it before giving that service personal details.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to recognize activity across websites and tailor ads. That tracking is controlled by the provider.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks serving page ads
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so a breach or unauthorized access can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied data will be handled with a deletion request.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor’s location and applicable law. Missouri’s Sunshine Law policy governs public records held by government bodies, while Section 43.509 addresses dissemination from the state criminal-history repository. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask what personal information is retained
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of processing when the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. A new version becomes available on this page with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it from time to time.
Effective date: July 30, 2026
